In a market oriented scenario, agriculture can surely contribute to expand trade flows widening employment levels and incomes, reducing poverty and under-development, but rural communities in East-Central Europe often seem not prepared to adequately respond to these challenges. In the meantime, the definition of development paths to facilitate the diffusion of innovation and to improve private investment in agriculture becomes more and more urgent. Transition, affecting all economic sectors and all segments of population, implied adjustment crisis for agriculture.
