Created in 1979, the French Language Center of
the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies
– Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier (CIHEAM-IAMM)
receives :
- students (age : 18 minimum) for whom the acquisition of French is
related to scientific, technical or professional training goals;
- teachers needing to perfect their skills in the didactics of French
as a Foreign Language.

Since April 11, 2008, it has been granted the quality label « Qualité français langue étrangère » (Quality for French as a foreign language). See for further information
Since November 2008, it has been granted the ISO 9001 quality certification as far as its training organisation processes are concerned.
The French Language Center benefits from an excellent insertion in
the scientific, academic and professional environment of Montpellier
and the Languedoc-Roussillon region which allows it to collaborate with
many institutions.
Its resources :
- a highly qualified teaching team
- a network of researchers and scientific teachers from the universities
and research institutes of the Agropolis scientific park in Montpellier.
Supplemented by :
- a multimedia workroom : audio and video cassettes, written supports
for self-study
- a library / reading room (general, scientific and technical works,
local, national and international newspapers)
- a free internet access
Its cultural activities :
- professional visits (scientific labs and companies)
- professional contacts
- cultural trips in the area of Montpellier
Right at the beginning of the course, each trainee takes a placement-test
which determines the level of linguistic knowledge in French.
Any demand receives thus an in-depth study.
At the end of the training, each trainee fills in an assessment questionnaire
and gets a certificate mentioning the type of course attended, the number
of hours taken and the level reached.
